Valparaiso University Display

Diana Richards is the regional coordinator for the Quilts of Valor Foundation in Indiana.  She recently coordinated a display, in conjunction with the Military Veteran’s Law Assoc and Valparaiso University, of Quilts of Valor made by five area quilt guilds.  Over 125 quilts, draped over the pews of the University’s Chapel of the Resurrection, made for a very moving display.

After their one-day showing, 94 of the quilts were awarded to the 713^th Engineering Company of the Indiana National Guard in a ceremony on Saturday, Dec 8th.  These soldiers recently returned from Afghanistan, where they lost 6 members of their unit during their deployment.  The balance of the quilts will be sent to military hospitals in Afghanistan.
